I don't want to hear one more person use the term "nosh" when talking about eating. My biggest bugbear in the world is loud eating and drinking, and "noshing" sounds like it would be most foul. I was taught good table manners as a child, went to finishing school as a teen, and I feel as though it has become very overlooked. Don't chew with your mouth open. Nobody wants to see or hear what is in there. So now I'm going to preach a la Miss Manners.
Things you should not do:
Never lick or put your knife in your mouth.
Again. Never chew with your mouth open. No one wants to see food being chewed or hearing it being chomped on.
Never talk with food in your mouth.
It is impolite to put too much food in your mouth. It will begin to fall out and again, I will see it.
It is impolite to slurp your food or eat noisily. If it's too hot, WAIT.
Don't blow your damn nose in a restaurant when I'm eating! Go to the bathroom for cryin' out loud.
Never pick food out of your teeth with your fingernails in front of me. I will gag.
Anyone else have a pet peeve that gets them going so much they could scream?

It KILLS me that eating is the one thing that can make the most seemingly refined person look like a caveman.
AMEN AMEN!!!!
This is also, by far, my biggest pet peeve. I don't understand why people can not eat politely - UGH!
I will get so annoyed when people eat rudely that my whole body will tense up.
I don't like when people eat overly crunchy things and cram them in their mouth, thus chewing WAY too loudly. At work there are two ladies that eat crunchy food and they sound like horses. And at the movie theater when people eat popcorn loud....ANNOYING!
People just don't have manners anymore and it drives me nuts.
oh god...i HATE when people eat/chew with their mouths open.
it is so nasty.
and i agree w/ the whole "nosh" thing..it is one of those words that just sounds gross.
I remembered something!
DOUBLE DIPPING in dairy-based dips.
YES.
Salsa, fine -- I can deal with it.
But you know as well as I do, when people double-dip in dairy-based dips, some sort of weird liquidy stuff surrounds the area that they just double-dipped.
EWWWWWW.
My biggest one is when people who eat ribs or chicken wings suck the sauce off their fingers. This also applies to cheetohs and cake batter. I try and hide my annoyance by saying something like "I didn't see your fingers on the menu," or "how were ur fingers?" I also don't like when people eat bread like Henry VIII. A good rule is that once it goes in your mouth it should stay there.

K. Totally agree w/ the double dipping. I died laughing when I read that.
Another one I can't stand is when people breath heavy when they are eating. You know, when sounds like an obese person running on a treadmill. SICK
K. I also agree about the dairy double dipping. That is just so sick for some reason. Maybe it is because I think of "live and active" cultures. Sick.
Oh, how about not passing the rolls at a dinner and then you have to ask for them like some kind of carb-monster.
Yes, this is my biggest pet peeve. Eating loudly, smacking lips, hearing people chew. Popcorn at the movies is the worst.
I agree with all of the above statements and would like to add Gum Chewing to the list. I don't like gum, I'm always afraid I'll swallow it and choke. But I really hate hearing people chew it because they really are chewing with their mouth open. There's always lip-smacking and I LOATHE when people crack/snap their gum. I think it's trashy and immature. It grosses me out. And yes, it does make me want to scream.
I get mad if I even see someone in their car chowing down on their gum, and I can't even hear it! I'm just picturing what it sounds like and I want to punch them!!
