Yeah, I JUST Stay Home

I'd like to share a MAJOR source of displeasure for me. People saying I "Just stay home." Yes, yes I do stay home with my daughter 99% of the time instead of leaving to go to work, but let me tell you, my old job was WAY easier than this. Here are some comparisons:

7pm Dinner -
Them -Eaten at a leisurely pace with a glass of wine maybe.
Me - Eaten at WARP speed with a fussy baby on my lap because I just don't want to hear her scream for me not holding her. Give up on dinner, give her a bottle and put her in bed.

Them - Still working on dinner and chatting.
Me - Running around like crazy to get bottles washed, filled, do laundry and then breast pump.

9pm -
Them - Watching prime time TV that I greatly miss.
Me - So exhausted I'm actually in bed next to Ms. Bee's cradle. (You'll see why I don't put her in another room) 10pm - Ms. Bee crying because she dropped her pacifier. Give it back. Back to sleep. 11:30pm Ms. Bee crying because she dropped her pacifier. Give it back. Back to bed... this happens many more times. You get the idea.

Them - In bed for the night with NO interruptions.

2am -

Me- Breast pumping so I don't dry up. (I must do this at least every 5 hours) Ms. Bee dropped her pacifier again...

5am -

Me- Ms. Bee is up and at 'em and ready to eat. Feed the Bee and now it's time to watch Disney.

7am-

Them - Up for the day after a full night's sleep. They go to work, get guaranteed breaks and a lunch hour, can zone out AND GET PAID!

I am a teacher, a mother, a maid, an accountant, a nurse, a food source, and a wife. I get a few minutes here and there to play on the computer. I DO NOT get paid, I have no retirement, no benefits paid, no vacation time, no sick days and I'm not too appreciated either. Where the HELL is my Union rep???

Now this is important: I'M NOT COMPLAINING! This is the happiest I've EVER been with my life. I choose to stay home with Athena, and I can't stand leaving her. I just don't care for people looking down on me because they think I live this life of leisure at home with my daughter.

So in closing, yes, I just stay home. And now right on cue.... Ms. Bee is calling...

Amen, sister!!!!!

When I was a full-time stay at home mom.....it was the HARDEST JOB I'VE EVER HAD. And, the most rewarding. My husband would come home from work and complain about his hard day and then I'd lay it on him -- everything I did that day. I told him that he was not allowed to complain about being tired until he spent a week in my shoes. LOL.

It's hard work, but it's the best job ever.

Don't say you "just" stay home. You have a full-time job - it's called Mommy.

:)

Cheers to you and to being a stay at home mom/parent!!

I do think stay at home parents don't get the appreciation they deserve!

(Those people are just idiots.)

Second - Whatever to persons who dismiss what you do--obviously they have never done it!

You're an accountant?!? I just skimmed the post, but I think I got the gist, good for you! Accounting is really hard...this is your busy season. If you were me, would you put all your money in weed?

Thank you all very much for the cheers. I GREATLY appreciate it!

Hurley, absolutely start putting all of your money in weed. It is about to go public and the return on your investment will be HUGE!

Ditto. We are living identical lives.

I'm sick of people asking me when I'm going to go back to work. They refuse to accept that this IS my job for awhile, until my husband and I decide otherwise.

Thanks for the advice, there's nothing better than a good ROI. When weed goes public, I won't forget the little people, unless I get really wrapped up in my investment, then I might forget the little people...and the big people.
