What about you? Can something like a person's political views make you not care for them?
You Are 12% Capitalist, 88% Socialist |
You see a lot of injustice in the world, and you'd like to see it fixed. As far as you're concerned, all the wrong people have the power. You're strongly in favor of the redistribution of wealth - and more protection for the average person. |

I am of the belief that we are all entitled to our own political views and opinions - it's part of being an American citizen.
What I don't appreciate is when people try to tell me, for example, that my political opinion is wrong because: (1) it's not theirs, (2) they don't agree with it, (3) they just like to be snarky and start petty arguments.
It's call freedom of choice people. I don't care if you're from a red, blue or purple state. Just vote.
oh, and I'm: 16% capitalist, 84% socialist:

I was JUST talking to two of our dear friends about this last night. They are very much Republicans and I tend to be very liberal in my beliefs. However we can have extremely civil (and actually eductaional for all of us)discussions on politics, religion, whatever and not get upset. And it isn't just because we are friends it is because we LISTEN to what each other has to say and RESPECT each others view points, even the ones that are different. I actually like to learn why people feel the way they do and maybe learn something or even teach someone else something they didn't think about.
I feel that people, the government, media have created a society that likes to argue. If someone has different ideals we just start arguing to make our points without really just stopping and listening to what the other person has to say. How can we ever fix the problems in our world if we can not listen to each other and work together. No side has gotten it completly right.
I also agree with TLC. You don't need to talk down to people, call them names, or start arguements just b/c. Points do not seem as valid in situations like that.
I'm 96% socialist. My career is at odds with me. LOL.
Although, I think the choices were so extreme that you could not agree with most of them.
Everyone supports free speech until you’re saying something they don’t agree with.
I don’t know why everyone gets all worked up when there’s political debate going on in someone’s comments section – especially if the post’s author asks for reader’s opinions. I agree, name calling is unnecessary and counter-productive and that’s why I never partake in it. It’s disappointing when other people, whose opinions I generally respect, partake in it. But I find it ironic when people scold others for calling their candidate a name, and then I head over to their blog and they have a post about fill-in-the blank politician of the opposing party, and they’re – literally - calling that person an idiot. And I’ve figured out that it’s also okay to call incumbent politicians names, but not candidates.
If we’ve reached the point where you can’t tell somebody why you disagree with their opinion - when they’ve shared it in a public forum, then how can we ever have civil discourse? Isn’t that the definition of “debate”? If you’re going to post about something controversial, expect controversial comments. If you don’t want to hear opposing views, disable comments on your post.
If I don’t care for someone, it’s not because of their views, but how they present those views. People that are easily intimidated are just as big of turn-off for me as people who are overly aggressive. My best friend has COMPLETELY opposite views from me, but she knows her stuff and she knows where she stands, so I respect her for that. We are both completely capable of engaging in heated, yet respectful, debate.
Congrats Nadja, you’re the bearer of my very last comment on someone else’s blog about politics or religion. They say “if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” Well, I’m starting to feel like a cook.
BTW, I’m 60% Capitalist and 40% Socialist.
While you are definitely sympathetic to a free economy, you also worry about the less fortunate.
Wealth and business is fine, as long as those who are in need get helped out too.
You tend to see both the government and corporations as potentially corrupt.
I'm 80% Capitalist and 20% Socialist. AND, I hate other peoples opinions especially when they are different from my own...
