Michael Phelps + bong = ???
Some people are upset. Others don’t care.
We’ll actually hear from the Olympic champ for the first time about the controversy.
Nadja says:
The country is a mess. Almost everyone is worried about their job and money. Jessica Simpson is fat. There's so much else going on I really don't give two shits if Michael Phelps smoked pot. You're worried about your kid looking up to him? You just say "Do you want your ears to look like that? Don't smoke weed." Problem solved.

i guess when one is in the spotlight, they ask for this kind of attention. me personally, i do not really care. at all.
I do not care AT ALL, and I am just annoyed at the whole thing.
I mean good for him, the boy won a shit load of Olympic medals, maybe he needs to relax a bit! As for role models, sure that is always important for kids to have good role models but shouldn't the parents be the number one role models. It should be up to THEM to talk to their kids about what is right and wrong and it is not up to some athelete or celebrity to have such an impact on our kids lives - seriously, why do we care so much about this stuff.
I will actually be pissed if he isn't allowed to compete in 2012 or reprimanded for what he did. He isn't taking performance enhancing drugs, infact really the weed should slow him down :) Media: leave him alone and infact leave ALL celebrities alone and worry about more important things then hitting a bong. Maybe you should give it a try to mellow you out.
I don't care.
Actually there have been more moments where I've actually wanted to smoke with him, more than wanting to swim with him... and you've seen him {almost} naked, right?
I think it's astounding how much media attention he's getting for this.
And the "Do you want your ears to look like that? Don't smoke weed." comment CRACKED ME UP! I totally know what you mean. I know that dudes typically say this, but Phelps is one of those paper-bags-over-his-head kind of guy, you know what I mean?
no, i don't care. he's 23. he has millions of dollars to spend. and if he wants to smoke pot, then he can smoke pot. does it make him a good role model? no, but that's where, as a parent, you say "yeah he's a good swimmer. but he smokes pot. don't smoke pot. drugs are bad."
i do wish i would have saved my frosted flakes box w/ him on the front. i could have sold it on ebay and made a few bucks. :)
I can't even express how little I care about this.
Phelps and his abnormally-long torso have always bothered me.
LOL. I don't care. I've never smoked weed, but I still don't care. I just think he was stupid to do it in front of someone with a camera.
Since he was a child, this man has had very little life outside of the pool. I say cut him some slack.
The minute he starts walking around all cracked out looking like Amy Winehouse, then I will care. But for now I still think his accomplishments are something to look up to regardless if he took a hit off a bong or not.
We forget that "celebrities" are human and do stupid things too. I will concur with the aforementioned "who cares" sentiment.
I couldn't care less. He's 23, for crying out loud, and it was the off season. It's not like he was taking steroids or something, so what does this have to do with swimming? Aside from those swimmer's lungs of his being able to take THE MOST AWESOME bong hits.
