Mom Wants Dead Son's Sperm

20-year-old Nikolas Evans died Sunday, as a result of a bar fight. His mom got a court order to extract his sperm, so she can have a grandchild through a surrogate mother. Is this okay?

When 20-year-old Nikolas Evans was hospitalized and later died after a bar fight in Austin, Texas, his mom was adamant that she wanted his sperm extracted, reports the Austin American Statesman.
According to court documents, she repeatedly asked hospital officials and representatives from an organ donation agency to extract her son's sperm leading up to and immediately after his death. They refused.
Now a judge has signed a court order requiring the medical examiner's office to preserve the body of the assault victim until his sperm can be taken.
"I want him to live on," Evans said. "I want to keep a piece of him."

(However, I understand that the traumatic and unexpected terrible loss of her son would perhaps compel her to make this decision.)

My mouth flew open in shock when I read this. Unreal.
I just don't even know how to put into words what I think.... I know, I know, hard to believe, but I just can't.
I read about this on babble the other day- It's going to put a lot of pressure on that poor kid to be a replacement for her son. What if it grows up to be nothing like the dad it will never meet? She needs to find another way to channel her grief this seems unhealthy IMO. Plus she still has to find a surrogate willing to do it.
I would like to second Ky's comment exactly and then add a few more "NO's" and a "I mean, really. What the hell" myself.
