My 200th Post!

If you went to bed at any decent hour -- then you missed a SQUEAKER of a finish for the democratic presidential primary in indiana, but a decisive win in north carolina. the candidates split the wins. so, what now? Will barack obama and hillary clinton duke it out all the way to the convention?

I want to know what you think of last night’s primaries? where does it leave the dems? go to http://www.cnn.com/robin -- click on the “sound-off” section. correspondent richard lui will read some of your thoughts on the air.

Anyone else afraid the dems are screwed because of all this hoop-lah?

Sadly stupid Obama will win the nomination, unless some horrible character defaming story comes out before June 3rd. However, he will not win the election, because the country (NOT ME,) is not ready for a black President. Look at the results for N.C. 92% of blacks voted for Obama? 92% of people have never agreed on anything! So, when these stats become more apparent to white and Latino voters, there is going to be some annimosity...also, he is winning with the black vote and democrats-2 groups that John McCain never expected to win anyway! It's all going to be fun to watch though, when the Dems dreams go up in smoke AGAIN. They never put their best horse in the race-that being Howard Dean 4 years ago, and that being Senator Clinton this year. Watch and see.

Do we really have to resort to name calling at all, especially the 3rd grade version? That McCain...he is such a stupid head. Come on - really, really?! :)

I actually think the best person IS Obama. Obama brings more to the table then some give him credit for. As for Hillary we have all seen how she has run her campaign up to this point and it has been horrible. She can't control Bill (and personally I just think she is riding on his coat tail), she always seems like she is going back and forth on what she says and thinks, and I just personally do not think she is representing the Democratic party at all and truly dividing us instead of us sticking together. It won't change once she gets in the White House. If for some reason Obama does not get the nomination, I honestly do not know who I would vote for.

And you say the Dems are not putting the best person in this election, well I really don't think McCain is the best republican either....actually he was just the ONLY republican that really had any platform at all based on the selection there was. But he looks like a gem b/c of how much Clinton is dividing the Dem party and the media...now it is appropriate to use name calling...THE STUPID HEAD MEDIA is F&*$ing up this entire race. UGH, they are my biggest frustration.

We'll see what happens. I am not disagreeing that McCain might win b/c of all the shit that has gone down over the primary....it will really be up to the person running on our side to prove to the entire dem party and others out there why HE (or she) is right for our country at this point. How can we even tell that as the "game" so far has been within the parties.

I'm happy Obama won, and I believe he can win the election. Stupid? That is one adjective that hardly can be used to describe Obama Hurley.

Yes racism is alive and kicking in America, but America is in the toilet right now because of the Republicans, and McCain is just more of the same crap. If America votes on racism then it gets what it deserves.

As far as the 92 percent, I'm African American and Clinton had more support in the black community than Obama at the outset of this election. She showed her true colors and lost that support. So that's her fault.

Traci said...

the fact that hillary just loaned herself $6.4 million to keep going is the only stupid thing.

i said it on my blog and i'll say it here: the longer she stays in this race the more damage she is doing to the democratic party. it is time for her to drop out. go run for governor of NY or something.

oh, and Obama rocks. :)

Kitties, name one political accomplishment Obama has had, without googling it, and give me 2 reasons that he is ready for the most powerful position in the world without telling me that neither are hillary or mccain. He is a media driven candidate and will fall by the wayside soon enough. Also, Traveldiva, Hillary never had the majority of the black vote, but would have had Obama been white. Black people in N.C. did not vote on polotics or readiness, but color alone, and anyone who denies that, doesn't get the basic laws of statistics. If white people voted that way, Obama wouldn't have made it past the first week.

Traci said...

um, no.

why?

1. by referring to us as "kitties" (which is just sexist and demeaning) all you managed to do was piss me off.
2. i don't have to explain to anyone why i'm voting for Obama.
3. i don't insist that mccain supporters tell me why he's qualified.

Obama is nothing more than a smooth-talking bureaucrat, a slick recruiter for the Church of Obama. As a Senator, he was INVISIBLE until he began campaigning for the presidency; he never even spearheaded ONE major piece of legislation, and STILL hasn't. I believe he is all hot air and will be as ineffectual in the White House as he has been in the Senate. Ineffectual, or INCOMPETENT. (To be fair, Hillary has been equally inactive in the Senate, and McCain is a flake who has voted all over the board. What a rotten choice of candidates we have this time around.)

Why should we expect Obama to rise to the occasion as a president when he couldn't even rise to exceptional prominence and brilliance in the Senate? His lackluster performance as a legislator is the only record we have of Obama's ability to govern (or not) at a national level, and it demonstrates to us that he is an empty suit.

Obama's worshippers have no cause for ecstatic celebration that he has finessed his way to the top of the Democratic candidacy. Instead, the glassy-eyed believers should think of him as a "junior executive" with no experience and probably no aptitude as a controlling authority; he will most likely make an unremarkable or wretched "CEO" if he is allowed to manage the institution that is America.

Wrestling Kitties said...

Besides getting into the Senate? He has many things he is working on within and outside of the Senate. I know that he is working on a Pell grant and legislation to help with in the field of education. As well as other bills. However that doesn't matter because it is more on WHERE he wants to go that makes me believe he will be the best candidate. And more importantly he has given hope to those people who will listen and made people realize that things do not need to be kept the way they are. People are involved and interested and fighting for what they believe in. There is an awakening in the spirit of people. And you may roll your eyes at this and think that is an irrelevant point but it is not. Because no matter what happens when this thing is over, Obama has rejuvenated the spirit amongst many people and encouraged people to not except the way things currently are.

You know sometimes a personal and financial portfolio shouldn’t be the only thing we consider when it comes to who could be a good... great leader.

Yeah, he is young – SO? What we have now ISN’T working. If McCain gets into the White House it will be the same old, same old. My philosophy is to take a chance….try something new. Could Obama fail, possibly…but so could ANYONE else who gets into the position of President. Any of these people can get into the White House and fuck up. I mean many years ago Bush was looked at as someone who could do great things and what is his approval rating now. Even my overly republican friend admits that Bush has not handled stuff they way she thought. And don’t let this lead to a Bush debate, I am not having it…my point is do we really know what any of these people will do when they get into the White House? We are taking a chance no matter what. It should really be do you find someone who has the same ideals as you and is interested in going the same direction you are and will speak on behalf and represent ALL the people of the U.S., and be a leader that will try really hard to make a positive difference.

To anonymous: I don't consider myself a glassy-eyed believer b/c I think he could be someone who makes a real difference. He could continuing building his resume to get to the point that you all think will be acceptable but you can not teach a person to be a leader. That is natural and Obama has it.

Uh, TLC, I was referring to Wrestling Kitties, so take your bra out of the fire, no one said for you to start the uprising yet. Also, I'm pretty sure that if your misinterpretation of my reference of "kitties" pissed you off, then you probably are pissed off a lot, which may explain your affinity for Mr. Obama, or possibly your love of all things impractical.

Secondly, anonymous, are you going to quote all of the posts from ABC News blog "Political Punch," or just the ones that you think best side with your views. At least put it in quotes, and if anonymous is the "db" that wrote this very same thing 2 weeks ago, a lot has happened, so let's try and have a new thought, or at least the same thought with some edits. Looks like the Kitties are getting restless... (my new word...thanks tlc)

WK, A bunch of puke is resting in my talky box after reading that uninformed drivel on Sen. Obama. The fact that you make the point that all he has is a vision and has people believing that he can win, is not now and will never be a qualification of being The President of The United States. It is laughable that you can't name one thing that he has done that would make him even remotely qualified for the most powerful position in the world, but you will vote for him because he sold you on his speaking abilities? This makes me believe that you are the perfect candidate to buy my Ocean Front House I have in Sunny Cleveland Ohio...it's really very Oceany and Obamaesque. Asking price: whatever you have in your savings account and checking account.

No Hurley, I'm not always pissed off. Normally I only get pissed off when stupid people make stupid comments.

So....figure that one out, why don't ya.

[nadja...sorry 'bout my vents...but i'm with WK on this one....]

Hey guys, I'm the one that started the political talk. Isn't this what blogs are for? Venting? And I WELCOME comments, even if they get heated. (Cue the patriotic music) This is one of the things that I love about where we live: The fact that we CAN get on here, have all these different views on the government, rip each other up one side and down the other, and then all partake in a stupid quiz. Viva America!!

First off, congratulations to you on your 200th post! That's quite an achievement!

Secondly, I would really like to respond to what's been said here. Type my own response as to how I feel about Obama and Clinton. But after reading all these comments, it looks to me like I've suddenly gone back into high school with certain people being douchebags and the like. I love that we can get on here and speak our minds freely about how we feel. And I'm all for making people defend their beliefs through rebuttals and debate, etc.

However, I think it is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that several of you are completely disregarding what people say, just because they disagree with you. Disagree all you want, but the moment that you call anyone misinformed, uneducated, unaware, stupid, or whatever it may be, shows me exactly what kind of character you are. You are so insecure about your own views that you have to put other people down to make yourself seem so intelligent, as if your opinion is the only one that counts or matters. Guess what, you're not right. No one's right. That's why it's fucking called politics; things are not black and white, right and wrong. There are significant gray areas, and if you can't handle having an opinion that is different than someone else's, then shut your damn pie hole and let people who can be mature handle the conversation. Nope, shut up dear, the adults are talking.

It's really easy to not have to defend yourself when all you have to do is devalue others' opinions. We are all adults here and yet I get the distinct feeling like I'm having a Myspace blog bitch fight because people can't handle being called out on their opinions. So if you can't handle being an adult and acting like an adult, then don't say anything at all. You just make yourself seem catty. And I don't know about you, but I avoid people like that.

NADJA FOR PRESIDENT!

I don’t think it’s anybody’s business who you’re voting for if you don’t want it to be. But if you do publicly declare who you “endorse,” I think you should be able to back up that endorsement with why you are voting for that candidate. Isn’t that what “campaigning” is? Why else would I care about who you’re voting for unless you have a convincing (respectful) argument potentially worthy of my vote? If you can’t back up your candidate with qualifications, you’re more or less telling me to vote for him/her because “all the cool kids are doing it,” and that line only works on me if you’re trying to sell me drugs. Or feel me up.

I will gladly tell you the list of reasons why I think the candidate that I support is qualified--but only if you asked me, or if I was “campaigning” to you. But this isn’t my blog, it’s Nadja’s forum of wit and fabulousness. And I’m sick of being a comment troll. So I am going to write my own post on what I think of this election.

Congrats on your 200th post, Nadja.

Okay, Okay...no tears ladies. My responses to your responses are this: WK, Look up the word fundamental, I think that you'll be surprised by it's meaning. TLC: I figured out that you think I'm stupid and that stupid is your favorite word. T.w.i.t.: I agree with you mostly, but I never endorsed a candidate, except Ron Paul months ago, and we all know how that turned out; I just like to see why people are voting for a candidate that they know nothing about except that he speaks well, and he's Oprah's Homeboy. So far everyone has been real good about being defensive that they can vote for whomever they like, but what I am saying is don't get caught up in the media hype, and research what the candidates HAVE done as well as their promises before making an "intelligent" decision. What someone has done already is much more important then what they promise to do...sorry this got so heated, but we all had a little fun...right?

Right everyone? :)

Hurley, I'm not reading all of your posts as it appears you have been taken to task by others.

What I will say is this, blacks are not voting for Obama just because he is black. If Condi Rice ran do you think she would get 92% of the African American vote? Please. African Americans overwhelmingly supported Bill Clinton during both of his elections. Heck-the NAACP gave Clinton a friggin' Image award. When the race initially started--the polls put Clinton WAY ahead of Obama among likely African American voters. She ruined that with her race baiting politics.

Wow.

Nadja, congrats on the 200th post.

Traveldiva, it doesn't make any statistical sense that the divisions are that off if they weren't voting for him just because he was black. 92%?!? I could see if 80% of any other group voted that way, but every other group was about 52-48, 56-44, 60-40, 50-50, and 51-49, yet 92% of black people voted for Obama on his platform alone? I don't think so...
