Shocked Doesn't BEGIN to Describe it...

Seriously, shock doesn't even begin to describe how I feel that Obama won. I hoped he would win. I campaigned for him. I voted for him. But I just plain didn't think that it would happen. I honestly had myself prepared to get to know and love John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Then Obama crushed him like he was a Bush relation.

So here's my question. What the Hell happened John McCain? I honestly would like to know what everyone thinks, especially all of the extremely disappointed Republicans.

I am too, Michael Ian Black

I'm sick of the ads. I'm sick of the rants. I'm sick of people jumping down each other's throats all the time. I'm sick of how divided the country is. I'm sick of people saying SUPER negative things about the other side and then not even remotely being able to take it as well. I'm sick of racists. I'm sick of ageists (would you look at that Republicans! I can stand up for yours too!) I'm sick of sexists. I'm sick of things being taken out of context. I'm sick of no one having a sense of humor about this thing and IMMEDIATELY freaking out.

I'm out.

Yeah, Race CAN Have its Place in this Election

Here's ANOTHER letter to the Editor:

How racism works--
What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class? What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said 'I do' to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama were a member of the 'Keating 5'? What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does: When there is a color difference, it covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another.

Fabulous, just fabulous.

watch it here: http://gaysocialites.com/2008/10/tina_fey_sarah_palin_in_snl_co.html

Palin stood mute as Fey's "30 Rock" co-star, Alec Baldwin came onto the stage, mistook Palin for Fey and pleaded with Michaels not to let the actor go onstage with the governor.

"This is the most important election in our nation's history and you want her, our Tina, to go out there and stand with that horrible woman?" Baldwin said.

When Michaels broke down and introduced him to Palin, Baldwin feigned embarrassment and replied, "I see. Forgive me. I feel I must say this: You are way hotter in person."

Palin got even by saying, "Thank you, and I must say, your brother Stephen is my favorite Baldwin brother."

Again, just fabulous... and way to go on there and make fun even though they've been making your running mate look like he belongs in a hospital gown shouting obscenities to traffic.

Athena and her Dad have gone political

The Brocus Family supports Barack Obama, that is no secret. But I have yet to share exactly why we are such staunch supporters of the Democratic Party. First of all, our financial livelihood. Our grandfathers were proud union members, our fathers were proud union members, and now Louis makes it possible for me to stay home with our children because he is a proud union member. I'm not saying that the union isn't flawed, that it hasn't been tainted by organized crime afiliation, that people haven't hidden behind it for selfish reasons, but what organization run by humans ISN'T flawed. Look at the church for crying out loud! We've managed to even do a number on that one. But I think people have forgotten why the union was so important to American history. Because of the union people FINALLY got safe working conditions, fair hours, and fair wages. Is there a prosperous country in the world that doesn't have organized workers?

We also feel that people should never have to be without health care. Someone should not have to decide whether to take their child to the doctor or buy groceries that week. My best friend in high school almost died from an intestinal birth defect because her family didn't have health insurance and she was too afraid of the costs for her mother if she went to the emergency room. If I help out one deserving poor family, but 6 lazy families, with my tax dollars by paying for their health care so be it.

There are many other reasons why I'm a Democrat, but maybe I'll continue on in another post so that I don't bore you, my gentle readers...

Good Morning!

good morning rock star!

did you stay up late for the veep debate?

if not -- here's the headline:

polls say biden wins, palin exceeds expectations. Agreed?
My favorite unimportant moments: (Not EVERYTHING has to be smart, right?)
1. Invention of the word "Bosniac". I vote we keep it.
2. Name change to Obiden. Also think we should keep it. Obama Obiden sounds less like Osama Bin Laden.
3. Joe Biden + Israel = BFFs

Tell Me...

I'm being serious... Tell me why I shouldn't be horrified at the idea of this woman being VP, and insulted that they would think I would vote for her purely because she is a woman.

I was reading Dooce and watched this video:

BaRock you like a hurricane

***If you don't agree with my political affiliation just ignore this post and don't give me any shit. This is for my democratic compadres, ok?***

If ya ain't busy this weekend and lookin' for somethin to do...

MoveOn suggests:

Four years ago, George W. Bush won Ohio by 118,601 votes. The Obama campaign is organizing canvasses this weekend to knock on 118,602 doors for Barack—one more than Bush's margin of victory. There's a canvassing event near you—will you come?

Leaving from: Deters Residence (2040 Northridge Dr in Toledo)

When: Sunday, Sep. 21, 2008, at 11:00 AMClick here to RSVP on BarackObama.com:http://www.moveon.org/r?r=28985&id=13924-9621895-AkvbT0x&t=11

Now THIS was fun!

I was with Obama with everything but two economy points, one immigration point, and one hot button issue.

I Know Everyone has Seen it...

... but I love it. I would absolutely love it if all the negative campaign ads were funny. Wouldn't that be awesome?? Way to go John M. on starting what I hope is the newest trend in campaign ads!

What do you think?

Michelle Obama may face jabs in election fight

Analysis: Many judge president by spouse

I've honestly never given much attention to the spouse of the person running. I've just looked at them as more of an accessory. Might be crappy, but I'm just being honest.

Ain't it the truth..

For most people anyway...

"Elections are won by men and women chiefly because most people vote against somebody rather than for somebody. "

My 200th Post!

If you went to bed at any decent hour -- then you missed a SQUEAKER of a finish for the democratic presidential primary in indiana, but a decisive win in north carolina. the candidates split the wins. so, what now? Will barack obama and hillary clinton duke it out all the way to the convention?

I want to know what you think of last night’s primaries? where does it leave the dems? go to http://www.cnn.com/robin -- click on the “sound-off” section. correspondent richard lui will read some of your thoughts on the air.

Anyone else afraid the dems are screwed because of all this hoop-lah?

Quitters Never Win

This made me laugh out loud:

In Zimbabwe, President Robert Mugabe has lost the election, but he refuses to step down, saying he still has a chance to win.

Mugabe says he got this idea from Hillary Clinton.

What's everybody think is gonna happen today?

You Are a Smart American

You know a lot about US history, and you're opinions are probably well informed.

Congratulations on bucking stereotypes. Now go show some foreigners how smart Americans can be.
