I've been reading about this since it was first reported, and I figured there must be more to Chris Brown's history to be capable of this:"A source close to the investigation tells E! News exclusively that Rihanna has
alleged to police that Brown choked her while threatening to kill her and,
subsequently, she lost consciousness.
They began squabbling after leaving Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party late Saturday. Shortly after midnight, things blew up. Brown pulled his silver Lambourghini to the side of a street in L.A.'s Hancock Park neighborhood. That's when, per the source, Rihanna grabbed the car keys and tossed them out the window, sending Brown into a rage. He tried in vain to find the keys, then came back to the car, put his hands around her neck and, according to the insider, said, "I'm going to kill you!"
The 20-year-old "Disturbia" singer told police that she lost consciousness, the source says, and when she awoke, Brown had fled.
According to the source, her right eye was blackened and badly swollen and she had hand prints on her arms. The responding officers were so concerned about her, they drove Rihanna to the hospital in their squad car instead of waiting for an ambulance"Read Rihanna to Cops: Chris Brown Threatened to Kill Me for the rest of this story.
So I went looking and found this sad, sad bit of information:
It is asked by ABC News: Can Chris Brown Bounce Back?
"Brown's alleged violent behavior may be rooted in his past. In 2007, he told Giant magazine about how he grew up terrified, watching his stepfather abuse his mother.
"He used to hit my mom," Brown told the magazine. "He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself. I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, 'I'm just gonna go crazy on him one day.' ... I hate him to this day."
Brown also told Giant he studied martial arts to defend himself. After a fight with classmates in which he broke out his moves, he begged his own mother not to go to the police.
"Don't go to no cops pressing no charges," he told her, according to Giant. "Like, we don't do that in the 'hood."I hope they both get help. This will be traumatizing for her, and he obviously has severe trauma from his past. I think that if he makes a public apology to his fans, gets help, and does some work for domestic violence prevention, he can get his career back.

It's hard to tell what on the news is real and what is just rumor, but the situation seems messed up, especially when everyone at the Grammys saw the announcement that Brown was arrested for assault and then Rhianna didn't show up for her scheduled performance.... sad.
very sad. I do hope that if these things are true that action is taken (celebrity or not). Abuse of any kind is UNEXCEPTABLE and if he did do something to her then he needs to be some place where he can not only get help but also be punished for his actions. History or not, we all have a choice to act or not act.
Based on personal family history, I do not tolerate abuse of ANY kind.
Eek.
I bet Jay-Z is pissed.
I just saw the bruised pic of her face--put it up on CITC. OMG. I WAS sad for both of them--young and talented. But, he beat the crap out of her. He deserves whatever happens.
And yes, I heard Jay Z is HEATED!
I hope he gets the help he needs, even if that includes incarceration. Violence (particularly against women) is NOT okay, regardless of your circumstances.
I keep hearing about radio stations boycotting his songs and refusing to play them. I just find it interesting that this is the first case where they've decided to take a principled stance against the actions of a performance artist. Can you imagine if they pulled the songs of every artist who was ever involved in a domestic dispute, assault allegation, murder charge, drug charge, etc? Every station would be talk radio.
