Girl Talk - Makeup: What foundation do you use?

Don't tell anyone but I'm 32 now and my skin has changed a little bit. I think I need a new foundation and concealer. I used Christian Dior Diorskin Fluide for 5 years and it makes your skin look like that of a celebrity. So dewy and flawless.

Sephora Says:
Dior’s unique understanding of couture brings the idea of customized luxury to the world of foundation with this smart formula that adapts to your unique skin type and adjusts accordingly throughout the day for an ultra-smooth, flawless complexion. Infused with the skin-shaping Skincare Essence, this formula melts weightlessly into the skin while hydrating and mattifying elements keep skin balanced, smooth, and healthy. Skin texture is instantly refined and imperfections concealed.

But you guys. It's $47.50. That's like 5 bottles of Gato Negro Chilean wine.

I've been using Avon's Mineral Foundation
It's certainly not a bad foundation. It has great coverage and color and it's only $7.99, but no dewy, bright finish like that of my youth.

Here's what I'm thinking about trying:

MagiX Cashmere Advanced Liquid Foundation $8.99

Avon says:
"The cashmere-soft feel you love…now with new skin brightening benefits. Advanced new formula gives skin an instant radiance. 70% of women saw more radiant, younger-looking skin. After 4 weeks of use, spots and discolorations appeared diminished."

What do YOU use and WHY?

Breaking News: I made a shocking discovery.

While this may not be CNN-worthy news, it is absolutely Athena Bee's Breaking Beauty News!

Every couple weeks I go to one of a couple stores I frequent and stock up on my organic red wine. I always see the same general group of people. Sometimes they card me and sometimes they don't. (And as you know, not getting carded chaps my ass.) I found this curious. What makes me sometimes look 30+ and what makes me sometimes look younger? Quite the mystery.

WELL WONDER NO MORE!

Through trial and error, experimentation, process of elimination, and the scientific method, I discovered that it comes down to 2 things: under-eye illuminator and mascara. I'm serious. That's it.

1. Christian Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen

This is the end all, be all best one. A lot of other companies make some that are OK, but that's it... just OK. If you take the time to go to a Christian Dior counter and let them show you all the ways to use it you will be in love.

2. Mascara, again, Christian Dior makes the best mascara around. The Diorshow Mascara in black just can't be beat in my opinion. However, Avon makes a mineral mascara that I like quite a bit and it's only $8.50. It doesn't have the best reviews on their site which kind of surprises me because I was impressed

So there you have it. I solved the mystery Scooby Doo style. Now you know how I spend my free time.

What a difference a baby can make...

Oscar-style makeup

What I should be doing:

"Access takes an inside look at how the Oscar ladies can dazzle with the help of Dior makeup artist Patti Dubroff." (I'm supposed to be working an event in Michigan with THE Patti Dubroff.

I Worked!

Yep, I totally did it. I went to work on Saturday. I stayed for the whole 5 hour event, actually put makeup on people, and I wasn't even nasty to anyone. My husband was nice enough to send me periodic pictures of what Ms. Bee was doing while I was gone. I WAS SO EXCITED to see her when I got home, but she was BEYOND ticked off at me. I went into her room to show her the leggings that I bought her that totally match mine, and she gave me this MEAN look that said "Where the HELL have you been?" It's honestly the look you would give your spouse if they came rolling in at 5am.

My daughter is funny.

I'm going to do it

I am. I going to work a couple events. I finally stopped avoiding the situation and talked to my executive. She was so understanding about my anxiety and is going to let me ease my way back into the groove. There's no way I'm going to work full time or anything, but I also don't want to completely lose touch with the industry. When Athena starts going to school, I don't want to regret letting all of this slip through my fingers. So I'm going to do Backstage Beauty Seminars for 2 stores here in Toledo and one in Detroit.

Now the exciting part. (At least it is for me.) They called to invite me to work the event that International and Celebrity Makeup Artist Patti Dubroff is hosting in May. I can't believe it. She Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts, Miley Cyrus, and Jessica Alba just to name a few... and I get to work with her.

I'd love it if some day Athena maybe thinks I'm cool. :)
