This is common enough to have its own series???

"I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant is a compelling documentary special that explores the fascinating and utterly surprising phenomenon of women who were completely unaware that they were pregnant...until they went into labor!"

I could imagine it MAYBE happening to SOMEONE, but this many???? I've been watching this and it absolutely blows my mind.

Here's what I pictured in my head:

Me: "Hey Ky (Two Pretzels), you're looking a little thick in the middle."

Ky: "Yeah, I kinda noticed that as well. Must be all the Jif."

Me: "Totally. Let's go to the bar."

Ky: "Just TRY to stop me."

HAHA! I bet that is how the convo would go ;) It is just a little water weight.

Yeah, I watch the show as well and I am just amazed at how many people do not know they are pregnant! I mean, just NO clue. Not good.

P.S. I am a HUGE fan of reenactments. I especially love when they find an actor to play the person they are talking about and they look nothing like, I mean NOTHING like the person they are suppose to be portraying. Like the actor looks like Sandra Bullock but the real life person weighs 300 pounds and has a mullet. Just not good casting.

I can't stop watching those shows! There was a marathon on one night and we just watched it over and over again because I can't believe it.

I seriously don't understand how it's possible, but some women swear they didn't know and some of them were only like 100 lbs! HOW COULD YOU NOT NOTICE??

ahhhhh!

So, I've never seen the show... do they LOOK pregnant? Like, when you watch the show are you thinking, "Seriously?!?! You have a basketball under your shirt, how could you not know you are pregnant?" Or do some of them not really look pregnant?

There was a girl who graduated from my high school who knew she was pregnant but was able to keep it hidden from everyone until the night she went into labor. She was very tall and didn't gain much weight and hid it with baggy clothes - although she played basketball while she was pregnant - maybe she changed in a bathroom stall or something (?). She went into labor and had her baby in her bedroom at her parents' house. The parents didn't know until they heard a baby crying.... and then they called EMS.

You're so funny! This stuff totally blows my mind too.

How can you not know you're pregnant? Seriously?

This whole post makes me laugh. I agree with W.K. - WHERE do they find the actors for the reenactments. They NEVER look like the real crazies.

And your dialogue TOTALLY cracked me up.

I can hear us having that convo.

Love and miss you, sista.

First, good call WK. It bothers me when the actors don't look like the real people.

Second, I find this to be more common with obese women. They don't "show" like thinner women. Once, I was called in to scan a woman who had some pelvic pain. I set my probe down on her (chubby!) belly and saw a fully developed baby skull, and then her water broke on my exam table. Her "pelvic pain" was labor and she had no idea she was pregnant! Worse yet, the doctor who examined her and called me in didn't suspect she was pregnant, either!

(Tip for Toledoans: Don't ever go to the ER at that West Toledo hospital. I can't tell you the name, but it rhymes with "paint can."

One of the girls on there was this 115lb rock star chick. Those are the ones I have trouble buying. I can accept a baby getting lost in an obese belly, but a tiny one?

And you know, it would be even hard to fathom someone only being as far along as Jill and still not noticing!
