It is my kids' fault if I never get Gangnam Style out of my head.

How long has this stupid song been around now? Everyone is past this, the Harlem Shake, and have moved onto something new, no?

Not my children. They watch every freaking version and parody of it DAILY. This particular scene is their absolute favorite:

They do it all the time :/

I don't know which is better... this performance or when they sang Nicki Minaj "Starships" with their garbled "higher than a m****er f****er." Louis and I win at talented kids.

Zofia

Since we focused on Athena for Saturday, let's talk about Zofia today. First of all, I'd like to report that she has quit barfing and we we all survived. Praise Jeebus. Have a sucker.

Second, this is currently her favorite thing to watch. She yells at me to put it on every time I open the damn computer:

Third. While we were watching cat videos on YouTube a very boob-centered picture of Nicki Minaj came up and she tried to honk it.

Girlfriend loves her boobies.

And there you have Zofia's week.

Look at my kid!! Halloween Video Edition

Last night Ottawa River Road Elementary and the Summit Street McDonald's paired up to do a fundraiser to raise money for school field trips. McDonald's generously gave 15% of all profits that night and it was a monster-smashing success.

Athena could NOT wait to go. School staff was manning the counter, cheerleaders were performing, and Athena's music class showed off their vocal stylings with 2 songs:

5 Little Pumpkins (Miss Bee is in the center with the leopard print pants on.)

The Itsy Bitsy Spider (Happy Halloween!!)

"Ermahgerd! Erce creeeeeeeam!"

"Ermahgerd! Scooby!!!!!"

"HellOOOOOOOO BOYZ!"

We had so much fun. Having a kid in school is as awesome as it sounds :)

Happy Halloween!!!

Prima Ballerina Athena

Last night was Athena's Christmas dance recital. This is a BFD in this household as Athena takes dance uber seriously. It was held in the cute little Maumee Theater here in Ohio and was a magical evening.

First up is ballet. They danced to "One Little Christmas Tree" originally by Stevie Wonder. She's the little dancer on the far right part of the screen.
(Sorry for the poor quality. My husband made do with what he had.)

Next up is her Hip Hop recital. They danced to "Last Night I Saw Santa" originally by New Kids on the Block. She's the far right dancer again.

Tell her what you think. She'll love to hear it :)

Mom Life - Video Edition (Added bonus to hear my voice!)

Kids and dogs. Is there anything funnier? Well, people getting startled or fallying down might be funnier, but kids and dogs are up there. Housekeeping isn't my strong point, but I was actually trying to sweep up the floor a little bit. Athena immediately commandeered the Dirt Devil and tortured the dogs:

(That's SpongeBob Fun Dip she's pouring down her throat.)

It carried on and Athena started feeding the dog "treats" she was finding under furniture. Zofia just hung out, Detroit leanin', and Zoe ate Toodee.

Zofia had a turn too. Needless to say, my house is still messy and I think it will remain that way for about 15 years.

Why must my love for Bruno Mars be constantly called into question??

If you know me you know this is totally my thang. Aren't enough performances like this if you ask me.

I think Dave Chappelle might be my guardian angel.

I was working out on my new elliptical with my giant nursing boobs almost hitting me in the face when I thought, "You know what? I'm getting a breast reduction after all this. I'm tired of these huge things!" And I went upstairs to tell Louis he should start saving now. Upon entering the living room I noticed that Dave Chappelle was on and it's the skit where he takes this big-boob-hating girl to see what her life would be like without boobs a la Christmas Carol. In the end she realizes that life is better with her boobs and that Dave is actually just a janitor "who loves titties."

Coincidence? I don't think so, Dave.

Honey Badgers Don't Sleep

Well, at least mine doesn't. Zofia had a new thing where she would cry off and on from 3:45am to 5am and wake herself up by standing up and running off the couch.

Cool.

Then she got up and threw up all over me. This is extra special because vomit is one of the "O's" in my OCD.

In the depths of my despair I sent out a lonely tweet that my "honey badger won't sleep!" and "Dare I move my honey badger to the crib?"

Twitter responded with Honey Badger-bots that sent me this gem:

Another video narrated by Randall. Thank you Twitter. Thank you so hard.

(In case you're wondering "What the F is a honey badger," I talked about it here.)

Here's to sleep filled, vomit free days! Cheers!

What? You act like I haven't blogged in 3 weeks.

OK, you're right. I haven't. I'll address that, but first I just wanted to do a light, ice-breaker post. So here's Athena's and my favorite video of the moment. Watch it, don't watch it. Whatever. Honey badger don't care...

For your Monday Viewing Pleasure...

Athena was standing on a file cabinet, using a sweeper as a mic, and singing into a box fan. Katy Perry has been IT with her lately so here she is singing "Firework."

She then turned around and said, "Mommy, I'm a little bit shy."

Riiiiiiiight.

California Gurls

Awesome. It's the fall at the end that really clinches it for me.

Look at my kids.

Athena wrote her first word. She wrote "HI" on the window. She's clearly a genius.

Fifi walks around the couch...comedy ensues.

Baby giggles. If they don't make you smile you're made of stone.

Future makeup artist like her mom.

Have I mentioned how much I love them?

Weekend Roundup

'Twas a weekend of birthday celebrations and Super Bowl festivities.

On this day 34 years ago, my husband Louis was brought into this world. On this day 29 years later, my nephew Evan followed suit.

The birthday boys:

Evan Thomas - 5 years old

My nephew Sammy enjoying his red velvet cake.
He dyed his hair punk rock style with the red coloring. Awesome

Louis John - 34 years old

We celebrated Louis' birthday and watched the Super Bowl.
Athena was the entertainment.

Veggies and cake were on the menu, per the birthday boy's request.

Zofia caught up on some computer work. Come on, Fifi, can't you take a break?

This is the first time in a long time Louis let me celebrate his birthday. It's amazing how children can make everything fun, even for die-hard party poopers. :)

Happy Birthday, fellers!!

Mishmash

I love little girl giggles.

Mega-intense roller spinning.

snOMG Day

Here comes the snow.

Snowed in but still stylish.

Homeschooled kids don't get snow days, sucka!

And weirdness

I hope everyone has a great weekend. The ladies will be attending a birthday party for their cousin, Evan. Athena could not be more excited.

Louis + Nadja = The Perfect Couple

Louis and I are fairly quiet people. Few have any idea what the underbelly of our relationship looks like. Sure, you periodically hear me tell him things like "If you drop Athena I will punch you in the neck."

Or I tell the story of our romantic vacation: "We were standing on the beach, holding hands with all these newlyweds. They were all hugging and kissing, and then I turned to Louis and... he farted as loud as humanly possible.

Or as we're laying in bed and he announces "I'll go get a vasectomy if you promise right now you're not going to go divorce me."

Ah. Romance. He haz it.

Athena was shooting a video the other day with Louis and I blissfully unaware. (You hear her warn me, but it falls on deaf ears.)

It's all cuteness of her sister with a loving exchange between Louis and me in the background.

Why do I share this? I have no idea. Sleep deprivation may be making it funnier to me than it should.

You can sign up for our marriage counseling sessions any time. After almost a decade together, we got this shit on lock.

Belly Laughs - Video Edition

There is nothing on this planet that gets Zofia more excited than her sissy. Louis and I can get some giggles, but nothing like what seeing her sister play gets out of her.

Here is the first belly laugh caught on film!

Look at my kid - Video Edition

She does ballet. And it's awesome

Ballet from Nadja Brocus on Vimeo.

If you don't know The Bee, she's the little one farthest away in the pink leotard and white tights.

Looks aren't everything.

So how does a Mediterranean gal like myself know she's got the right kid when it comes out strawberry blond with blue eyes?

It's when at 3 years old she already shows a preference for British humor and a spot-on British accent.

Her current favorite video:

(She does the nighttime/daytime thing to Zofia all the time.)

Someone is 5 months old already.

I know. I'm shocked as well. I thought Athena's infancy went by fast, but it was NOTHING compared to this. These ladies are growing so fast it's making my head spin and my heart ache for it to slow down. I pray that I never for one second take for granted the fact that I get to spend every single day with them.

Zofia log-rolls everywhere already and she has started floor-swimming in a darling attempt to crawl.

Before I know it Zofia is going to be Athena's age and Athena will be in SCHOOL! GAH! NO! I can't handle that way of thinking yet! Slow your roll ladies, slow your roll. Mama needs more time with her babies.
